Pillarwood Farm Pre-School is a unique family-run outdoor learning setting based in the village of Edenham, near Bourne.
As a family we have always dreamed of opening an outdoor learning pre-school, so following the success of our Forest Schools business, Children's Woodland Adventures, in 2019 we decided the time was right.
With over 40 years of childcare experience between us and five children of our own, at Pillarwood Farm we have taken our inspiration from the Scandinavian outdoor approach to early years education.
Based in the grounds of our home in Edenham, we wanted to provide a pre-school setting that opened up the great outdoors, encouraging children to learn through healthy outdoor play, developing their creativity and imagination while learning fundamental life skills.
The purpose-built facilities include a Yurt, which provides the base for all indoor learning activities, along with an extensive range of outdoor learning areas, including a mud kitchen, dedicated literacy and numeracy zones and a range of dynamic opportunities for children to learn through exploration.
Pillarwood Farm's small team of experienced practitioners offers a child-centred approach to learning, offering just 16 places for pupils in each session and incorporating the best of the outdoors with the early years curriculum.
Our focus is very much on using the outdoors to enrich learning.
The children are encouraged to learn through play, learning in a holistic way, surrounded by the natural environment and using tools to create their own toys, grow their own vegetables and build shelters on a regular basis.
The great thing about Pillarwood Farm is that all of the traditional small world equipment is at the children’s finger tips, but they also have access to so much more than that, every one of our pupils benefits from a whole host of opportunities to learn and play through the world around them.
We look forward to welcoming your family soon.
