Children's Woodland Adventures is the sister company of Pillarwood Farm Pre-School, providing a range of popular Forest School programmes for primary schools and SEN settings across Lincolnshire.

Working with your school, we will develop a bespoke programme to fit the requirements of your curriculum, helping your pupils to learn through the natural world, broadening their horizons and building their life skills in an outdoor environment.

The ethos of Forest School is based on a fundamental respect for children and young people and for their capacity to instigate, test and maintain curiosity in the world around them.

Our Forest School sessions encourage child-led learning and planning through self-initiated play. Through our programmes, children develop self-confidence, communication, social interaction and speaking and listening skills which in turn develop self-esteem. It is also known that Forest School activities can help children to build the ability to concentrate and develop their creative thinking skills whilst encouraging an empathy with nature.

In addition, the activities Forest School offers improve gross and fine motor skills, encourage independence and assess awareness of risk taking, as well as improving a child’s knowledge of the natural environment. Activities can be linked with specific curriculum themes or Individual Learning Plans where necessary.

At Children’s Woodland Adventures we believe in;

  • The child’s right to play;

  • The right to access the outdoors and woodland environment,

  • The right to access risk and the vibrant reality of the natural world,

  • The right to experience a healthy range of emotions, through all the challenges of social interaction, building a resilience that will enable continued and creative engagement with their peers and their potential.

Significantly the woodland environment is central in supporting this
dynamic approach to learning. Through the changing of the seasons,
children experiencing the great outdoors are mentally, emotionally
and physically challenged.
